A Sending of Dragons completes the Pit Dragon trilogy. Heart's Blood's children have grown up, and now that Akki and Jakkin have sheltered in the deceased dragon and been 'reborn', they can communicate with the five dragonets. However, when Jakkin and Akki go exploring one day, they discover a group of men living in a system of caverns in the mountains - a group of men who slaughter the mother dragons just so they can get the powers that they want. It's going to take all of Akki and Jakkin's courage and cunning to stand up to them and free the dragons...
I didn't enjoy this book as much as I did the first one, and it was as good as the second one. Once again, the relationship between Akki and Jakkin seemed superficial, and the relationship between Jakkin and the dragons stronger than ever. Parts of the lives of the 'cavemen' also seemed fairly ridiculous at times. I still wanted to find out what happened, but I was able to put the book down.
Overall Rating: 8/10
The Pit Dragon trilogy or the DragonRiders of Pern trilogy?: The DragonRiders of Pern trilogy has its books just as strong right up until the last one, while the strongest book in the Pit Dragon trilogy was its first. I'd definitely go with the DragonRiders of Pern trilogy.
Happy reading!
