I have to say this is the best book in the series. It takes things far but not too far, it ties everything together, and it's feelings are, thankfully, not grossly exaggerated like in the first book. The characters are well rounded, especially the newly introduced Stefen, and it was finally a novel I wasn't able to put down. All in all, a fantastic conclusion to the series.

Magic's Pawn or Crystal Doors: Island Realm?: The first book in the Crystal Door's series intrigued me more than the first one in the Last Herald-Mage series, but as a series, overall, I'd choose Magic's Pawn
