City of Bones

City of Bones
Author: Cassandra Clare
Series: Mortal Instruments (#1)
Publisher: Simon & Schuster
How Received: borrowed

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder — much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Clary knows she should call the police, but it's hard to explain a murder when the body disappears into thin air and the murderers are invisible to everyone but Clary.

Equally startled by her ability to see them, the murderers explain themselves as Shadowhunters: a secret tribe of warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. Within twenty-four hours, Clary's mother disappears and Clary herself is almost killed by a grotesque demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know....

This book was given great reviews by everybody, and I have to agree. The plot line was intriguing, the characters lovable, and the whole novel was well written. I especially was able to relate to Clary, especially the shock at the end with Shadowhunter Jace...

Overall Rating: 10/10
City of Bones or Wicked Lovely?: Buy both and read them, they're both equally worthy. City of Bones is thicker, though, so it all depends on your length choice.

Happy reading!

  4. Darla, I was silly enough to lend my sequel to a friend before I started this one. Still haven't gotten it back. o.o

  5. Ooh, I hate when that happens! You'd better start pestering. My problem is remembering which friend I lent it to. I started the sequel today, and I'm enjoying it so far. Hope you get your copy back soon!
