Stephenie Meyer
There is no happy medium for this book. You either have to love it or you hate it.
I'm lazy - everybody knows what Twilight is about because 99% of people reading this have read it, heard about it, had a friend chat their ear off about it, or read another review about it.
So, instead, I'm going to analyze each part of Twilight and let you make your own guess on whether you'll want to read it - because everybody knows I love this book.
Bella Swan - the girl who falls for the vampire; the girl whose eyes the book is told through. She's different in the fact that she's not your typical, pretty, popular cheerleader - instead, she's rather clumsy and doesn't think that she's pretty at all. She did fall in love rather quickly, however, and that she did fall in love so quickly makes me doubt her at times.
Edward Cullen - the vampire of every girl's dreams. He falls for Bella, as imperfect as he is - however, he has a tendency to be stubborn and overreact. He, too, falls in love far too quickly, but on her part, where it seems foolishness, on his end, it seems like a surprise to him. I still love him, though.
Writing Style - I'm torn on the writing style. As it's told through Bella's eyes, you're getting Bella's thoughts and ideas (and you're falling in love with Edward while it's happening). At the same time, because you're seeing it through her eyes, sometimes the writing seems... odd. Not bad or good, just... odd.
Length - Great book length that fits everything in. Not to thin, not to thick.
Plot line - Though the plot line might seem odd, it is the one thing that kept me reading the whole time through. Combined with the writing style, I couldn't put the book down.
Rating: 9/10.
Twilight-: Stupid question.
Happy reading!

I love it too, i mean the book.
ReplyDeleteI like jacob more, I don't know why.
And then again, what's not to love about it?...
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI think I disagree with your statement that you either love it or hate it but I'm glad that you acknowledged that not EVERYBODY has to like Twilight. everybody is always saying to me "OMG have you read Twilight???!!" and I'm sort of 'meh'. Not saying that I don't like it, I mean I've read them and I like them but not to the extreme.
I really enjoyed the books when I read them, but the entire time I felt like something was off. It felt as if I was being alienated into liking it. And It really bugged me.
ReplyDeleteNow that I've looked into some more I realised that it's not exactly a very good book, just popular, and it expresses every girls dream.
Maybe if I wasn't female I'd hate it.
I read the whole series in 1 month.Fell in luv with edward and I'm like totally addicted. OMG i like totally need professional help LOL! I need a new book I've read each book at least 10 times. But I dont want to. Sooner or later i totally think my moms gonna put me in a mental hospital LOL
ReplyDeleteI read this series, and it was... just meh. I LIKED it, but I definately prefer Anne Rice's books. The story line for this book was very good, but I don't think it was very well written. She tried to use long, smart-sounding words, but she OVER used them. For example, Edward is always "pondering" something, and his face is described about every other page as "looking like an angel." Overall, I would rate it 6/10
