Artemis is back from his three year absence - now a big brother with a hidden past, whose twin brothers are learning from him how to summon a French waiter. (Well, he's attempting to teach them, at any rate.) But now Artemis' mother - the one thing he loves more than life itself - is sick, and the only way to cure her is to get the brain fluid of a silky sifaka lemur. A lemur he caused to go extinct when he was younger in a failed attempt to save his father.
The odds are stacked against him and his genius now, because his enemy is Artemis Fowl, age ten. Can the older Artemis, armed with friend Holly Short and knowledge of what might happen, defeat his younger self and save his mother?
For the record, I'm a huge Artemis Fowl fan. I've reread the first one so many times that I can't read some of the pages in my copy anymore. Hehe. ^^" The only problem I found with this one was that, with two Artemis', it's rather confusing to keep up with the plot...
[SPOILER ALERT]
Did any of you other ArtemisxHolly shippers enjoy that kiss? ^^

Another beautiful installment by Eoin Colfer. Just when you thought Artemis couldn't get himself into any more trouble, he does! Though a bit more confusing in plot line than some of the other novels, it's just as wonderfully written and it's nice to see Holly shaken up a bit and to see Artemis misjudge himself more than once. Everything came together nicely, and though it's not my favorite of the novels, it's still wonderful and fantastic and... it's Artemis Fowl, you can't go wrong.
Overall Rating: 9/10
Artemis Fowl or The Wheel of Time series?: Unless you're majorly into fantasy, go with Artemis Fowl - it's simpler to understand and, unless you have the time for eleven thick, heavy books with complicated plot lines that you often have to read each chapter twice to understand...
Happy reading!

*spoilers* I would never have seen the Holly/Artemis kiss coming if I hadn't read it in someone's review before.
ReplyDeleteI liked the book, though!
It's not so simple to compare Artemis Fowl with WoT- the books are intended for different audiences. Artemis Fowl is indisputably aimed at children, while WoT is not. Depending on what 'age' you are, you could just as easily be finding Artemis too childish or WoT too much of a chore.
ReplyDeleteO.O I saw the "Summon a French waiter," and I immediately thought of haskill from shivering isles.... LOL
