In The Belly Of The Bloodhound

In The Belly Of The Bloodhound
Author: L.A. Meyer
Series: Bloody Jack (#4)
Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
How Received: bought

The British crown has placed a price on Jacky's head, and so she returns to the Lawson Peabody School for Young Girls in Boston to lay low. But laying low isn't in the cards for a spunky lass who finds trouble even when she's not looking for it.

A school outing goes awry as Jacky and her classmates are abducted and forced into the hold of the Bloodhound, a ship bound for the slave markets on the Barbary Coast. All of Jacky's ingenuity, determination, and plain old good luck will be put to the test as she rallies her classmates to fight together to avoid being sold on the auction block in this new installment of the Bloody Jack Adventures.

Somebody told me that this was their least favorite, and I originally agreed - and then I reread it and changed my mind. (I just finished Mississippi Jack - review tomorrow - and that's probably my least favorite.) I love how all the girls work together on this one, and, of all the books, I can see this one being turned into a play of some sort. It's nice to see all of the girls working together as one! And you can't help but hate the slavers.
I always get mad at the end when they stop Jacky. As somebody who's fallen in love with Jaimy through Jacky, I'm, like, JUST LET THEM BE TOGETHER ALREADYYYYYY!
Rating: 10/10
Bloody Jack or- Once again, favorite series. I can't compare anymore. So...
The novel Bloody Jack or the musical The Pirate Queen?: One is based off of a fictional character, the other based off of a real life pirate queen - Grania (who, I believe, is mentioned in the previous novel by Jacky...). I love the music of TPQ and the writing of BJ, so I listen to TPQ while I read the series.

Happy reading!

 1. Loved this book. But I am SO tired of Jacky and Jaimy being separated. *sigh*

 2. I loved this book so much! I did the same thing: hated it at first, reread it, then loved it. One thing i hated was how he made Jacky become a stripper. I have to side on Constance Howell with that one: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?????????

What do you have to say, my fellow bookworms?
