May I announce my new favorite blogger: Donna from Lil Bites.
Why?
Read this, guys. [full post here]
My favorite part?
Stop referring to yourself as a “vampire girl” when you know nothing of vampires. Stop criticizing other vampire works when you haven’t even so much as laid eyes on them. Stop writing in genres you know nothing about. If you insist on continuing, be a real writer and do the work required. That means research and reading. Fuck your religion. If you can write about the occult, pedophiles and stalkers, you can watch a real vampire movie and read a real vampire book. Stop being a hypocrite. It’s unbecoming.
Keep it real, Donna.
Fangs for all,
~N
PS: The August contest ends at midnight! So... go enter. ;)
Ouch, that was pretty harsh. Being that this blogger is an aspiring YA author, you would think she would be pleased that any author was attracting so much attention to the genre. Whether or not you liked the Twilight series, there is no denying the number of people who have become crazy about these books, therefore other vampire books as a result. So she has been into vampires for a long time, so what. If she does get published she should hope that she gets negative reviews, that means someone is reading her books, not her blog.
ReplyDeleteLike elnice said.....pretty harsh! Truthfully, I have never read the Twilight books, however, I think for Vampires, not every Vampire from every book and every movie and from every advertisement should be the same, part of what makes a book good is to use your imagination.
ReplyDeleteI read her entire letter... Bravo.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I liked the Twilight books, I do agree with some of what she said. Like how SM over uses adjectives like 'russet' and 'granite', and that the word 'chagrin' appears...a lot.
ReplyDeleteI'm number 200!!! Yay!! *Jumps up and down**
ReplyDeleteWoot woot!
All I can say is, God, I love Family Guy.
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS THE BEST.
