Sookie Stackhouse leads the life of your normal crazy, psychic waitress. Until the vampire comes to town.
He's everything she pictured them to be - and when she saves his life, it sparks a series of events that lead to Sookie fighting for her life...
Is the series fun to read? Most definitely.
Are Sookie and the rest of the bunch interesting characters? Of course.
But it's not nearly the best series.
I'll launch into how it compares to Twilight on another day, but let's just focus on it's flaws for right now. The book is very plainly written - in a way, that's good. It's easy to understand. But it lacks... something. It's hard to describe. As for Sookie, she's a character full of variables. One minute she wants to spend the rest of her life with the vamp, next minute she's kicking him out, then she's ready to fight, then she's ready to give up... She's a very inconsistent character. Also, her life jumps to revolving around sex. Just a warning.
As a general story, though, it's a fast and entertaining read.
Overall Rating & Final Comments: 7/10. Quick and dirty read, but not the best.
Cover Comments: I got to gross out my marine biology teacher with this cover. Job well done.

I haven't read this series yet - but I have them.
ReplyDeleteAnd I must say you get to take marine biology - I am incredibly jealous!
I gave the first book about the same rating, but I do have to tell you this: each book is better than the last (at least up to #5, which is where I'm at). Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteHa, it's always good when you can gross out a teacher, I guess. I haven't read this series, but I may just check it out at the library instead of buying it...thanks for the review! :D
ReplyDeleteI love this book. It's so good especially if you're a vampire fan. And it's not like every other vampire book out there-it's differnt which makes it great. The HBO series made off the books is also excellent and follows the plot line perfectly. Great review!
ReplyDeleteI think really like the book, but it's probably because I watched the show first and it was really similar. I'm sure the series gets better, though.
