The Reckoning

The Reckoning
Author: Kelley Armstrong
Series: Darkest Powers (#3)
Publisher: HarperCollins
How Received: library

My name is Chloe Saunders. I'm fifteen, and I would love to be normal. But normal is one thing I'm not.

For one thing, I'm having these feelings for a certain antisocial werewolf and his sweet-tempered brother—who just happens to be a sorcerer—but, between you and me, I'm leaning toward the werewolf.

Not normal.

My friends and I are also on the run from an evil corporation that wants to get rid of us—permanently.

Definitely not normal.

And finally, I'm a genetically altered necro-mancer who can raise the dead, rotting corpses and all, without even trying.

As far away from normal as it gets.

I enjoyed the previous Darkest Powers series, and this was no exception. Yes, it's fast paced, and sometimes unhappily so - she had to cram a lot of plot wrapping into a very short book - but overall, it's interesting to read and an enjoyable experience.

Also - SO MUCH DEREK LOVE.

Overall Rating & Final Comments: 8/10. A good conclusion, but I was left wanting more, which a last book should never do.
Favorite In Series?: I don't remember The Summoning and The Awakening very well, but I would probably choose either Summoning, because I always love the first in the series, or Reckoning, because there's so much Derek.

  3. Kelley Armstrong is writing another trilogy from this world called the Darkness Rising trilogy, and the first book will be called The Gathering. I think I read on her blog that it will focus on a new group of characters within the same world, and that some characters from the Darkest Powers trilogy will make cameos, so that could be there are some loose ends leaving you wanting more.
