Then I procrastinated reading it for a year.
Then I read it a few weeks ago, and the cover jacket fell off, and holy hell it's a double-sided cover. The cover would be flipped around and twisted in case the bookstore didn't think the original cover was marketable enough for boys.
Original cover is on the left; flipped cover is on the right.

I just thought the idea of having double covers is amazing, plus it doesn't let the other side go to waste, PLUS you get a super-cool map of the ship! And the original cover is actually pretty enough (though a bit creepy with the two faces) that I like both of them.
What do you think of both covers? Do you like the double-sided cover idea?

Have you seen the even NEWER covers for these books? It's gotten a 3rd redesign!
ReplyDeleteOmg! I have this book sitting on the couch and I didn't even know this!
ReplyDeleteCool! I love that idea... I wish Cinder by Marissa Meyer had a double cover, because I bet guys would like it if not for the giant high-heeled shoe on the cover... :P
ReplyDeleteI read the ebook version then bought the hardcover and had no idea it was a double cover!! Wow! I just ran to look at my copy, very pretty!
ReplyDeleteYes, this cover is amazing! Why did they have do redesign the series, WHY? :(
ReplyDeleteI bought this when Borders was going out of business specifically because I'd heard about the double-sided jacket. And, um...I'm kind of guilty of owning two copies that I haven't read just so I can have both covers displayed...
