Author: Alex Lidell
Series: ---
Release Date: 10 January 2013
Having already survived six years at the Tildor's top military academy, sixteen-year-old Renee De Winter is determined to graduate, training day and night to compete with her male classmates. When the boys overpower her parries, she works harder. When a bully sabotages her gear, she fights without it. But when an underground crime group captures her mentor for its illegal gladiatorial games, she must choose between her career and her conscience. Determined to penetrate the group's inner circles, Renee will leap from academia to the crime filled streets, pick up a sword, and weigh law against loyalty.
A story about a girl who wants to be a knight? With no romantic interest thrown at us in the summary? Just a badass warrior chick?
Come on. I'm already in love.
What do you guys think?

Uhm. I'm not really attracted by this one, although it's interesting that the blurb doesn't mention romance. I've been wondering about the sudden popularity of having a female teen warrior/assassin/trained fighter as a MC; if these new releases are related to THG's big success, in that publishers are trying to replicate Katniss's popularity.
ReplyDeletesounds like Tamora Pierce's Song of the Lioness. Which was a great series, so I'll definitely add this one to Goodreads! Thanks for the heads up.
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of this one-love the sword and the power it conveys on the cover.
ReplyDeleteThis ones looks interesting, but I'm not sure what I think exactly. Nice pick! Stop by My WOW?
ReplyDeleteomg omg omg i'm so excited! (where do you find out about these awesome new books?)
ReplyDeleteFrom other Waiting on Wednesday posts, usually! Or I keep an eye out on Goodreads and some of my favorite authors' sites. Glad you like my choices!
DeleteI'm totally in. I do love me some swords and underground crime.
ReplyDeleteI kind of want to Photoshop out the hand and sword on the cover though and just have it be that castle and the sunset-y covers.
