Because we all have something we're waiting for.Steelheart
Author: Brandon Sanderson
Series: Steelheart (#1)
Release Date: 24 September 2013
Ten years ago, Calamity came. It was a burst in the sky that gave ordinary men and women extraordinary powers. The awed public started calling them Epics.
But Epics are no friend of man. With incredible gifts came the desire to rule. And to rule man you must crush his wills.
Nobody fights the Epics... nobody but the Reckoners. A shadowy group of ordinary humans, they spend their lives studying Epics, finding their weaknesses, and then assassinating them.
And David wants in. He wants Steelheart—the Epic who is said to be invincible. The Epic who killed David's father. For years, like the Reckoners, David's been studying, and planning—and he has something they need. Not an object, but an experience.
He's seen Steelheart bleed. And he wants revenge.
Everybody knows I'm a sucker for high fantasy. I have a soft spot for Sanderson - he took over writing the Wheel of Time series after Robert Jordan passed, so while I haven't read any of his original work, I do like him from what I know of him.
And this sounds... awesome.
What do you guys think?

I just heard about this one the other day and it sounds really awesome. I definitely hope to check it out. Great WoW pick!
ReplyDeleteGreat twist on superheroes! I haven't read any of Sanderson's work, but I'm just now beginning my foray into fantasy.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many books about people with abilities out there but this sounds like something unique and epic. And I love fantasy too :D
ReplyDeleteCheck out my WoW
This looks EPIC! haha no pun intended. The only thing I'm sad about is that the superheroes are bad :( but other than that, I can't wait to read this! My WoW :)
ReplyDeleteI am basically incapable of passing by a post about Sanderson without a little fangirling...
ReplyDeleteYou NEED to read some of his original stuff! The Mistborn trilogy remains one of the best things I've ever read. The world building, plotting, foreshadowing, detail...THE MAGIC SYSTEM. Everything about those books is fabulous. The fantasy writing bar = raised.
Or, if you want to fit something shorter and quicker into your reading schedule, his recent novella The Emperor's Soul is also gold.
You said "so while I haven't read any of his original work" meaning you haven't read Brandon's other books? Mistborn will blow you away. Loved it. Had to take a few weeks in between each book in the series just to let my brain process it all. I'm not a sci fi/fantasy reader in general. But I'm a Sanderson reader :-)
